The lack of affordable trapping in Seattle and other places is a silent pestilential, states U.S. Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash. It is the belief of umteen Americans that people who seek out and rent affordable admit are lazy, criminals, alcoholic and drug addicts; a variety of studies seems to cont reverse otherwise. What causes one to seek out affordable housing, what factors are involved, and what barriers to obtaining affordable housing are there? I would like to look for these issues and hopefully shed light on this silent epidemic
The shortage of housing has plagued man since people started living in modern cities, but really came to the forefront of news probity after WWII. A combination of decreased homebuilding during the Depression and demesne War II coupled with the return of millions of veterans at the end of the war created the worst housing shortage in this countrys history.(Cornell University, 2006) like a shot the shortage is caused by different factors, but most research I uncovered premises three main issues:
1. inadequate income.
2. Affordable Housing stock is in short lend and declining.
3. Those seeking affordable housing are increasing.

Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) reports in their 2009 report to Congress, that the single largest event of those seeking or living in affordable housing is severe rent burden, In the worst cutting unavoidably population, severe rent burden appears more frequently whence severity in adequate housing, 97.2% of all worst case renters paying one-half of a limited income for rent (HUD report, 2009) It seems to effectively combat this disparity between rent and income is to either, 1.) Increase income levels, or 2.) Lower rent levels.
